David Rice is a high school student in Ann Arbor, abandoned by his mother at the age of five and living with an apathetic and alcoholic father, who falls in love with his fellow student, Millie, and is chosen by at least one classmate. Just before drowning on a winter’s day, he discovers that he can instantly travel anywhere on Earth. He runs away from home and goes to New York to rob a bank vault and get the attention of a group of government hunters. Eight years later, hunters led by the killer Roland bring David to justice. He returns home and invites them to go on a trip to find Millie, but only later learns that Roland and his crew are seriously fatal. Is everyone close to David at risk?
