The infamous writer, Marquis de Sade of 18th-century France, was imprisoned in the Charenton Insane Asylum for unspeakable activities. He befriends young Abbé de Coulmier, a young exile, and a beautiful laundromat named Madeline. Things go awry when Abe learns that the Marquis’s book is being published in secret. Emperor Napoleon intends to send Dr. Royer-Collard, known for his harsh punishment, to oversee the asylum. It could mean the end of Charenton and possibly Marquis himself.
